In our Information Systems class, our team is working on developing a website for our 'company'. Currently we have individual profiles for each team member and a home page. By the end of the semester the website will be fully functional and will have many features. For example: we may add a purchasing system for those interested in buying our product, there will be a customer support page where you can contact us with questions, etc.

Alter-N-ergy

Our product is an alternate energy kit for children. This set will include solar panels, a wind turbine, and a fuel cell as well as a light, a fan, and a radio. Children will build the alternate energy of their choice and wire it to a device to power. They can connect as many or as few energy sources to a device as they desire to see how much power each device requires to keep it running. The benefit of this set is that it teaches children about 'green' energies early on, and they get to actually see how it works first hand by building it themselves.

The basic goal of our project is to follow a product from concept to ready to go to market. We have eight members on our team, and we came up with the idea of an alternate energy kit for kits (see the Alter-N-Ergy post for more details). We look at the project from four perspectives; Marketing, Operations Management, Information Systems, and Finance. We project costs, manufacturing, and the management of our company to create a final business plan to present to 'investors'.
